  30.  A transparency map with a falloff value in the proper direction, applied to 
  31. a model of a little more than  the portion of the Bird of Prey you wish to 
  32. be visable would do the trick.  Using an object dissolve envelope, you could 
  33. then fade in the visable portion of the Bird of prey in time with the 
  34. disrupter blasts.
